Born on June 27,1946, Elizabeth Ramos Jones, or most commonly known as “Beth” or “Ateng” to her friends and family, was raised in the humble towns of Pandacan Manila and Munoz Nueva Ecija. The eldest of the 4 children of Philip Jones and Ines Ramos, she had become the go-to-person of her brothers and sisters in times of need. At an early age of 7, Beth was already immersed to several difficulties in life to help her family. During her childhood, she would always go to market (or Palengke) to sell goods to raise money for her family. She also learned how to crop onions, tomatoes, among other things, at a very young age. A very caring child to her parents and responsible sibling to her brothers and sisters, Beth stood up as their “2nd mother”.

Elizabeth Ramos Jones bore one child whom she named as “Emilie”. She was never married to Emilie’s father nor they ever lived together due to race problems. Apparently, Emilie’s father’s family never liked Beth because of being a Filipino and the fact that Beth came from a poor family although Emilie’s father is a very good-hearted man. Despite the fact of being rejected by Emilie’s father’s family, this did not demotivate her to raise her daughter alone. She was able to enroll her daughter to good schools like St. Gabriel Academy (sisters of St. Paul), Our Lady of Grace Academy (sisters of St. Mary’s) and De La Salle University in spite of not being rich. Her hardworking and intelligent nature helped her to gain everything she was able to put up and achieve her dream to alleviate her family from poverty.

Elizabeth Ramos Jones gained many friends because of her unwavering generosity and sympathy. All people around her look up to her – from her family, to her friends, to her previous employers, partners and subordinates. She is one person that will always be remembered.
